The reasons
Most Twin reviewers are happy: on September 25, 2026, 78% of Twin’s 224 Trustpilot reviews were five-star, and Trustpilot’s AI summary noted that “usage credits tend to run out quite quickly” for a few reviewers (Trustpilot). The four reasons below come from Twin’s own pages.
Twin prices a simple automation at 15–30 credits and a 20-step browser session at 100–200, and its plans assume about 100 credits a task: 5,000 credits buys “≈ 50 tasks” (Twin pricing). Retries still use credits, and a build past 50 steps can cost more per step toward the end, because it carries the whole conversation (Twin tips docs). Twin’s own August 19, 2026 post describes a monthly budget “gone in days” (Twin blog).
The browser agent keeps your cookies between runs, but each site decides when they expire, some in hours and others in months, and then a person has to log in again. The password manager that would handle it is marked “coming soon” (Twin Web Agent docs).
Twin Store is built to sell agents. Each subscriber gets their own isolated agent, and you pay Twin for the plan and credits it runs on (Twin Store). Its 23 templates are agent services; the six on its front page run $19 to $99 a month. A booking service, a shop or a membership needs a product first: accounts, a database and checkout.
Twin’s T&C, last updated May 9, 2025, renew monthly, need 15 days’ written notice to end, license your Service Data for the contract term plus 3 years, and apply French law. They have no clause giving you ownership of outputs (Twin T&C). Twin’s newer privacy policy (July 17, 2026) says that when it processes customer content for your organization, it acts as your data processor under its DPA (data-processing agreement) (Twin privacy policy).

The spend question
A looping agent can drain a month’s credits, as Twin’s own blog describes, so here is what each vendor says happens when usage runs out, and what it counts.

Arithmetic on published prices. On Twin: 30 runs × 100–200 credits = 3,000–6,000 credits a month. Mini (2,000) can’t hold it; Mini+ (5,000 credits, €50) covers the low end; above that, Twin’s docs list 10,000 credits for €95, or you top up. The docs’ full list of monthly tiers is 2,000 credits ($20), 5,000 ($50), 10,000 ($95), 20,000 ($189), 30,000 ($282), 40,000 ($373) and 50,000 ($463), the same number in euros (Twin pricing docs).
On Skyvern: 30 runs × 20 steps = 600 actions, half of Hobby’s estimated 1,200 a month for $29 (Skyvern pricing). The action estimate is Skyvern’s; its credits vary with each run’s length, so a longer portal job uses more.
Twin’s own guards: Mini tops up by hand, while Mini+ and Pro list top-up as “Auto” (Twin pricing), and Twin’s August 2026 post says it pauses an agent after repeated failures and exposes run budgets (Twin blog).
One by one
DoAny first, because we publish it; then grouped by the reason you’re leaving Twin.
DoAny builds the business rather than an agent. Annie researches the idea first, then builds a hosted web app with customer accounts, a database and Stripe checkout. After launch she posts every day, finds customers and breaks the ice, and answers them around the clock, even at 2am (DoAny homepage). She also runs your CRM and follows up with interested customers. DoAny takes 0% of sales, which go to your own Stripe account; Stripe’s fees apply (DoAny Terms).
Price: Free is 5 credits a day, up to 30 a month, with no card, and a Free account can go live and take real card payments. Pro is $25 a month for 100 monthly credits plus 5 a day and your own domain; top-ups are $15 per 50. Credits stop hard: AI work pauses with no overage or automatic recharge, and the site stays live.
Why switch: it answers three of the four reasons above.
Watch out: DoAny has no browser agent that logs into other sites and fills in forms, and no big connector marketplace, so it won’t take over a portal job. DoAny has no SSO. The checkout on the sites DoAny builds is Stripe only at the moment, with no sales tax or VAT handling, and that checkout can’t take over an existing Stripe account yet. Triggers, knowledge lookups, actions, web searches and browsing all count as activities. Free includes 400 a month; Pro is $33.33 a month billed yearly ($400), or $50 billed monthly, for 1,500 (Zapier pricing).
Why switch: one run gets 10 activities on Free and 40 on Pro, then the agent asks for your input before it continues. Zapier says the cap “prevents a single run from consuming your entire monthly quota” (Zapier help).
Watch out: 1,500 activities is a small allowance for browser-heavy jobs, and at the monthly limit agents stop running, browsing and receiving triggers.
The closest like-for-like to Twin: an AI teammate in Slack and your inbox, with scheduled routines, computer use and thousands of integrations. Plus is $29.99 per user a month for 3,000 credits; Pro is $99.99 per user for 15,000 (Lindy pricing).
Why switch: Lindy says anything with outside impact, such as sending an email or updating a ticket, waits for approval, and when the credit pool runs low it pauses instead of billing more.
Watch out: you pay per seat and credits don’t roll over. The pricing page advertises a 7-day free trial, but its FAQ says only teammates who join through Slack get the free week; direct sign-ups are billed right away.
If Twin’s browser agent is why you use it, Skyvern is built for that work. Free gives 5,000 credits (about 170 actions) with no card; Hobby is $29 a month for 30,000 credits (about 1,200 actions) with stored credentials and a basic CAPTCHA solver; Pro at $149 a month for 150,000 credits (about 6,200 actions) adds 2FA (two-factor login codes) and 1Password (Skyvern pricing).
Why switch: stored credentials target the problem Twin’s docs describe, where an expired login waits for a person because Twin’s password manager is still “coming soon” (Twin Web Agent docs).
Watch out: it’s a browser tool driven through workflows and an API, not an app builder, and human-in-the-loop review is listed only on Enterprise.
n8n bills per workflow execution, “regardless of complexity”, so a 20-step run costs the same as a 2-step one. Starter is €20 a month billed yearly for 2,500 executions, Pro is €50 for 10,000, and the Community Edition is free to self-host (n8n pricing).
Why switch: you draw the logic yourself on a canvas, so the same input takes the same path every time, and a run is one execution however many steps it takes.
Watch out: someone has to design and maintain those workflows, the quoted prices assume yearly billing, and Business at €667 a month is self-hosted only, so you run the servers.
Pro starts at $37 a month with 20,000 credits and unlimited seats (Gumloop pricing). A credit is $0.005, and each agent chat is billed for model use, tool calls and compute, plus an 8% orchestration fee on top (Gumloop credits docs).
Why switch: agents stop when the 20,000 credits run out unless you turn on overage, and overage is capped at 1,000,000 credits ($5,000) per billing period by default.

Reasons to stay
Switching costs time. If one of these describes you, Twin is still the better fit, and the alternatives above cover only part of it.
If only the bill worries you, Twin has tools for that: the builder shows an exact run-cost forecast “before you launch anything”, and idle agents cost nothing (Twin pricing).

Pick by why you’re leaving. To build a business with checkout rather than an agent, DoAny, which publishes this guide: credits stop hard, you get a hosted web app with your own Stripe checkout, and the Terms say you own what’s built. For agent work: Zapier Agents to put a ceiling on each run (40 activities on Pro, then it asks you); Lindy for approval before anything goes out; Skyvern for portals with no API; n8n for fixed workflows you can self-host; Gumloop for a whole team on one plan.

Partly. Twin’s REST API exports each agent’s instructions and their version history, plus runs, run events and schedules. We found no documented export for Interfaces app code, generated integration code or agent database tables, and browser logins don’t move. Use the exported instructions as the spec in the new tool. If that tool is DoAny, bring the instructions plus any code and database records you have; DoAny imports them, so you don’t start over.
