Fill in the electrician invoice
The example bills a 240-volt circuit for an EV charger: a service call, four and a half hours of labor, the parts and wire, and the permit.
Add your business, license and the job
Enter your business details and, if you show it, your license number in Tax or business ID with its label. Add the customer, then the job address, the work order number and the permit in Job details, beside Bill to.
Bill the call, the hours and the parts
Put the service call on its own line, labor as hours at your rate, and each part on its own line, with cable by the foot. Add the permit and inspection fee as a separate line.
Set the terms and download
Use a new invoice number and the date you bill. For a call paid on the day, Due on receipt fits. Press Update invoice, check the preview and download the PDF.
Fit the invoice to the job
Service calls, installs and panel work are billed with different mixes of lines.
A service call or repair
What to change

An installation
What to change
List labor, each fixture or device, and cable and conduit by the foot, with the permit on its own line.

Every material on the invoice should have been installed or left with the customer.
A panel upgrade with a deposit
What to change
List the whole job and enter the deposit you received in Amount already paid.
Before you use it
Fill in the permit number and inspection date in Job details: the customer may need them later.
Check the electrician invoice before you send it
- The hours match your time on the job.
- Each part is described clearly enough for the customer to recognize it.
- Permit and inspection fees match what you paid or agreed to pass on.
- Any tax rate is the one that applies where you work; leave it blank if none applies.
- Your license number is shown if your state or city expects it on invoices.
Hours and parts add up to the cent
Labor can be entered in part hours, such as 4.5 or 0.25, and cable by the foot. Each line is quantity × unit price, rounded half up to the cent: 42 feet at $3.85 is $161.70.
Tax on electrical work
States treat electrical work differently: some tax the parts, some the whole job, and some expect the contractor to pay the tax when buying parts. The editor applies one rate to the whole invoice, so if only part of yours is taxable, work out that tax yourself, add it as its own line and leave Tax rate blank.
Made in your browser
The editor builds the preview and the PDF in this browser. It keeps only your latest invoice, on this device, and does not email the invoice, take payments or mark anything as paid; a Pay online link prints as you paste it and goes to your own payment page. Download the PDF or text to keep a copy. An AI answer in the chat sends the invoice’s details with your question, but never your logo, your signature picture or your Pay online link.
Useful answers
What should an electrician invoice include?
Your business name and contact details, your license number if you show it, the customer and the job address, an invoice number and date, the service call, labor hours, parts and wire, permit fees, the total and how to pay.
How do I bill electrical labor by the hour?
Enter the hours as the quantity, with up to four decimal places, and your hourly rate as the unit price: 4.5 hours at $110.00 is $495.00. A minimum charge or call fee can go on its own line.
